sitemap URL extractor
Every URL in your sitemap,
checked.
Paste a sitemap or sitemap index, see every URL and lastmod, and catch limit, date and duplicate problems. Nothing is fetched or uploaded.
Free, no account, nothing leaves your browser.
How to use it
- 1Paste the sitemap XML
Open your sitemap.xml in a browser, view the source or save it, and paste the contents: a urlset (pages) or a sitemapindex (child sitemaps). Up to 2 MB of text. Compressed .gz files cannot be pasted.
- 2Read the list and the flags
You get the number of entries, each loc and lastmod, and flags for more than 50,000 entries, invalid dates, duplicate URLs, URLs that are not absolute http or https, and mixed hosts.
- 3Copy or download
Copy the URL list or download a CSV (loc, lastmod). Cells that start with =, +, - or @ get a leading apostrophe so spreadsheets do not run them as formulas.
Questions
What limits does Google document for a sitemap?
Google's documentation (read on 2026-10-06) says all sitemap formats limit a single sitemap to 50MB uncompressed or 50,000 URLs, and a sitemap index file may have up to 50,000 loc tags. Larger sets must be split into several sitemaps. The tool counts entries, but it cannot check the 50MB size of a file you did not paste in full: it accepts up to 2 MB.
What does the tool check?
The root element (urlset or sitemapindex), the number of entries, each loc being an absolute http or https URL, lastmod values against the W3C Datetime formats Google documents, duplicate loc values, and how many hosts appear. Google says to use fully-qualified, absolute URLs, and that the sitemap file must be UTF-8 encoded (the tool cannot see the encoding of pasted text).
Does Google use lastmod?
Google says it uses the lastmod value if it is consistently and verifiably accurate, and that it should reflect the date and time of the last significant update to the page. The tool only checks that the format is valid, not whether the date is true.
Why are DOCTYPE and entity declarations refused?
A sitemap does not need them, and they can be used to build very large or external-reference XML. The tool refuses input containing a DOCTYPE or ENTITY declaration instead of parsing it. It never fetches anything.
Why does it warn about mixed hosts?
A sitemap normally lists URLs for one site. Google documents cross-site sitemaps for sites you control, submitted in a specific way, so mixed hosts are not always wrong, but they are worth checking for typos such as www and non-www.
What does it not do?
It does not fetch your sitemap or test whether the URLs return 200, redirect or are blocked. It does not read changefreq or priority. It only reads what you paste, in your browser, and nothing is uploaded or stored.
