    How to use it

      Paste the page HTML

      Open the page, view its source (not the inspected DOM) and paste it, or just the head. Nothing is fetched: the tool reads only what you paste.

      Read the list

      You get the title, meta description, viewport, charset, html lang, canonical, robots directives, Open Graph and Twitter card tags it found, and notes on each. Notes marked "check" come from rules Google documents; "info" is an observation.

      Fix the template, then re-check

      Change the template or SEO plugin setting, publish, and paste the new source. Use the URL Inspection tool in Search Console to see what Google sees on the live page.

    Questions

    Which meta tags does Google support?

    Google's page on special tags (read 7 October 2026) lists these: description, robots and googlebot, notranslate, nopagereadaloud, google-site-verification, charset (or Content-Type), refresh, viewport and rating. Anything not on that list is not documented there as a Google Search signal.

    Does Google use the meta keywords tag?

    No. Google says: "The meta-keyword tag is not used by Google Search, and it has no effect on indexing and ranking at all." The tool reports one if present, as information.

    How long can a title or meta description be?

    Google sets no limit. Its title link documentation says there is no limit on how long a title element can be, and that the title link is truncated as needed, typically to fit the device width. For descriptions it says the same about the snippet. So this tool shows the length as information and does not flag a number. To see a pixel-width estimate, use the SERP snippet checker.

    Is a title or description required?

    Google advises that every page has a title in the title element, descriptive and concise, and without repeated or boilerplate text. For descriptions it advises a unique description per page, and notes it sometimes uses page content instead of your description. The tool checks presence and flags an empty title or description, and several titles or descriptions.

    Why does the tool look at the viewport tag?

    Google says the presence of a viewport meta tag indicates to Google that the page is mobile friendly. The tool reports whether one exists.

    What about Open Graph and Twitter card tags?

    They are read by social networks and chat apps when a link is shared, not documented by Google as search signals. The Open Graph protocol (ogp.me) lists og:title, og:type, og:image and og:url as its required properties, and the tool notes which of those are missing. It lists twitter:card and its other twitter: tags as found, without judging them. For a share-card preview use the Open Graph tag generator.

    Can it check the live page or HTTP headers?

    No. It reads only pasted HTML, so it cannot see X-Robots-Tag headers, redirects, or tags added by JavaScript after load, and it does not know what Google indexed. It parses the HTML as an inert document: scripts do not run and nothing is loaded.

    Is my HTML sent anywhere?

    No. It is parsed in your browser and shown as plain text. Input is limited to 2 MB.
