IndexNow generator
Tell search engines
what just changed.
Make an IndexNow key, get the key file to host, and copy the request for your changed URLs. The tool only builds the request: you send it.
What IndexNow is. A protocol that notifies participating engines (Bing, Yandex, Naver, Seznam.cz, Yep, Amazon and the global endpoint) about added, updated or deleted URLs. Google is not listed as a participant on indexnow.org. It does not guarantee crawling, indexing or rankings. This tool sends nothing; it only builds the request.

How to use it
- 1Generate a key and host the key file
The tool makes a random key. Save the key file it shows, named after the key and containing only the key, and upload it to the root of your site so that https://yourdomain/<key>.txt shows just the key.
- 2Paste the URLs that changed
One URL per line: pages you added, updated or deleted. All must be on the same host. Up to 10,000 per request.
- 3Copy the request and send it yourself
Use the GET link for one URL, or the POST JSON body and the curl example for a batch. The tool sends nothing: you run the request. A 200 means the engine received it, and a 202 can mean it is still validating your key.
Questions
What is IndexNow?
IndexNow is a protocol for telling participating search engines that a URL was added, updated or deleted, so they can reflect the change sooner than waiting for a crawl. Per indexnow.org, a submission to one participating engine is shared with the others. It lists these endpoints: the IndexNow global endpoint (api.indexnow.org), Amazon, Bing, Naver, Seznam.cz, Yandex and Yep.
Does Google use IndexNow?
Google is not among the participating endpoints listed on indexnow.org (read on 2026-10-06), and the Google Search documentation pages we checked on sitemaps and requesting a recrawl do not mention IndexNow. For Google, use sitemaps and Search Console. We cannot say what Google may do in the future.
Will IndexNow improve my rankings?
No ranking promise is made here. Bing's IndexNow page says using IndexNow does not guarantee that pages will be crawled or indexed, and indexnow.org says each engine decides for itself whether to index a URL. IndexNow only tells engines that something changed.
How is the key checked?
You prove you control the host by serving a UTF-8 text file named <key>.txt at the root of the site (preferred) whose only content is the key. Engines fetch it to verify ownership. If you host the file elsewhere on the same host, the request must include keyLocation, and then only URLs under that file's folder are valid.
What does the key have to look like?
indexnow.org says 8 to 128 characters using lowercase and uppercase letters, digits and hyphens. This tool generates 32 random hexadecimal characters with your browser's crypto.getRandomValues, and checks any key you type against the same rule.
What do the response codes mean?
As documented: 200 OK (submitted), 202 Accepted (received, key validation pending, common on the first request), 400 bad request (invalid format), 403 forbidden (key not valid, for example the file is missing or does not contain the key), 422 unprocessable (URLs that do not belong to the host, or the key does not match the protocol schema) and 429 too many requests. A 200 only means the engine received your URLs.
What does this tool not do?
It does not send any request, check your key file, or tell you whether URLs were accepted or indexed. It runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded or stored. Each subdomain is a separate host and needs its own key file. Submit only URLs that actually changed: indexnow.org advises against resubmitting unchanged URLs.
