A clean llms.txt,
in a minute.
Fill in your site name, summary and key pages, and get an llms.txt in the llmstxt.org format, ready to copy or download.
Be realistic. llms.txt is a proposal, not a standard, and no major AI search engine has promised to read it. It is not a ranking or citation tactic. Make one if it is cheap for you to keep current. Read: does your website need one?
Free, no account, nothing leaves your browser.
How to use it
- 1Describe your site
A name (becomes the # heading) and a one-line summary (becomes the > quote).
- 2Add sections and links
Group your best pages into sections such as Docs, Product or Policies. Each link has a title, a full URL and a one-line description. Use the Optional section for pages that can be skipped.
- 3Publish at /llms.txt
Copy or download the file and serve it at https://yourdomain/llms.txt. Check that every listed URL returns 200 and is not blocked in robots.txt.
Questions
What is llms.txt?
A proposed Markdown file, published at /llms.txt, that lists the pages of a site that best explain it, so language models and agents can find them quickly. The format is described at llmstxt.org.
Is llms.txt a standard? Will it help me rank or get cited?
It is a proposal, not a standard, and no major AI search engine has promised to read it. Treat it as optional housekeeping, not a ranking or citation tactic. Crawlable, well-written pages matter far more.
What does the format look like?
One H1 with the site name (the only required part), an optional blockquote summary, then H2 sections containing bullet lists of links in the form - [title](url): description. A section named "Optional" marks links that can be skipped when context is short.
Where do I put the file?
At the root of your domain, https://example.com/llms.txt. The proposal also allows subpaths such as /docs/llms.txt for one part of a site.
Does llms.txt override robots.txt?
No. It does not grant access. If a page is blocked in robots.txt or by your firewall, listing it in llms.txt does not make it readable.
Is my input sent anywhere?
No. The file is built in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
