Which structured data does
Google still show?

The structured data types Google Search supports, the ones it has stopped showing, and where Google documents each. Verified from Google's own pages on 2026-10-06.

Structured data (schema.org markup) can make a page eligible for a richer appearance in Google, but Google says it does not guarantee that markup will show up in search results. This page lists what Google currently documents as supported, and which features, including FAQ and HowTo, it has stopped showing, with Google's own wording and links.

Features, descriptions and notes come from Google's gallery (last updated 2026-06-15 on its page), the individual feature pages and the Search documentation changelog, all read on 2026-10-06. Schema types are the ones named in Google's feature pages and code samples. For features Google no longer shows, its changelog names the feature rather than a schema type, so none is listed. "Supported" means the feature is in Google's gallery; it does not mean markup will always produce a rich result. Product merchant features (listings, returns, shipping, loyalty programs) have their own pages in Google's documentation and are not listed here.

How to add JSON-LD

  1. Pick the feature in the table that matches the page and open Google's doc for its required and recommended properties.
  2. Write the markup as JSON-LD, the format Google generally recommends. Put it in a script tag of type application/ld+json in the head or body of the page, as in the example below.
  3. Make sure everything you mark up is visible to readers on the page and true. Google says not to mark up content that is not visible.
  4. Test it with the Rich Results Test, publish, and watch the rich result reports and the Manual Actions report in Search Console.
<script type="application/ld+json">
{
  "@context": "https://schema.org",
  "@type": "Organization",
  "name": "Example Company",
  "url": "https://www.example.com/",
  "logo": "https://www.example.com/logo.png"
}
</script>

Generate valid markup with the free schema markup generator (Article, LocalBusiness, Organization). The FAQ schema generator still builds valid FAQPage JSON-LD; read FAQ Schema Explained for what to expect now that Google no longer shows the FAQ rich result.

Questions

Does Google still show FAQ rich results?

No. Google's documentation changelog says the FAQ rich result feature stopped appearing in Google Search from May 7, 2026, and that it removed the FAQ documentation on June 15, 2026. Before that, since September 2023, it was limited to well-known, authoritative government and health websites. Google's changelog does not say existing FAQ markup is invalid, so it can stay on a page for other systems that read it, but do not expect a rich result in Google.

Does HowTo markup still produce rich results?

No. Google removed its How-to documentation in September 2023 because the rich result is no longer shown in search results on desktop or mobile.

Is structured data a ranking factor?

Google says structured data helps it understand a page and can make the page eligible for a rich result, and that it does not guarantee that markup will show up in search results, even if it is correct. This page does not claim an effect on rankings.

Which format should I use?

Google says it generally recommends JSON-LD if your site setup allows it, as the easiest to implement and maintain at scale, and that all three supported formats (JSON-LD, Microdata and RDFa) are equally fine for Google.

What must I watch out for when adding markup?

Google's general guidelines say not to mark up content that is not visible to readers of the page, and that markup must represent the page truthfully. Violations can lead to manual actions that remove rich result eligibility. Include every required property for the feature, and test with the Rich Results Test.

Should I remove FAQ or HowTo markup from my pages?

Google's changelog does not say you must remove it, and this page does not tell you to. The practical point is that it no longer earns a rich result in Google, so do not spend effort on it for that reason. Keep or remove it based on whether you need it for other systems, and keep it accurate to the visible page.

How current is this page?

Every row was read from Google's own pages on 2026-10-06. Google changes these features, so use the linked documentation and the Google Search documentation changelog as the final word.
